Go to Google, and type Lyrics "grass is greener _ _ _ _"
It will give so number of hits and you can find it there.

I also thought it was the Beach Boys 'Wouldn't it Be Nice' but the lyrics are different, it's definitely Nik Kershaw.

Neelie is correct, Nik Kershaw did this back in 1984, and it also appeared in Pretty in Pink.
