The Ramblings Of A Rose ~ Part 2
Are you a positive person or a negative person? If you have a negative attitude more often than a positive attitude, find what things make you so angry, or bitter, and change what you can. Minimize these occurrences as much as you can, and keep a positive attitude. If you must be a pessimist, be an optimistic pessimist.
If something is not working for you change it! Your environment reflects the way you feel. So, in order to change the way you feel, change your immediate environment. Look at your surroundings and think about what you can do to improve it. Begin by clearing out the clutter, get rid of everything you no longer need or want.
Take time to smell the roses, the coffee, the fresh cut grass, the real leather, a fine wine... Whatever rocks your boat! Play the 'When I grow up I want to be..' game with your partner. Or the 'If I were rich...' game. Or 'If I had three wishes...'. It's fun. Dream big dreams - in colour! No matter your age there's always room for more fun!
Learn to overcome negative attributes - jealousy, greed, hate, control, selfishness, etc. Learn patience, compassion, gratitude, and forgiveness. Learn to be happy for others. Learn to live each day to the fullest. Learn to love yourself. Learn to give unconditional love. Search within yourself to understand the lessons before you.
My experiences have shown me that life truly is a journey, and the less baggage we carry the easier the ride. I also define baggage as being in the company of people that you don't like, don't trust, or just find annoying. Clearly, it isn't always possible, but consider how great it would be to go through a day only speaking to people you truly enjoy.
To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes, but to allow others to effect their own destinies. To let go is not to be protective, it's to permit another to face reality. To let go is not to deny, but to accept. To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires, but to take each day as it comes. To let go is not to regret the past, but to grow and live for the future.
How you think will depend on whether you are an optimist or a pessimist; one differs from the other as night from day and yet both are right, each is right from his own point of view, and this point of view is the determining factor in the life of each. It determines as to whether it will be a life of success or a life of failure. If you must be a pessimist, be an optimistic pessimist!
Life is too short to put up with unsatisfactory situations. Do things because you want to do them not because someone else expects you to do them. Any decision resulting in a loss of your valuable time or self respect is unacceptable. Don't do things because they are expected of you or because you think you should or because you will feel anxious or guilty if you don't. It's later than you think.
Depending on how you choose to use it, electricity can be constructive or destructive. Used positively it can fill a room with light. Used negatively it can give you a nasty shock. Mind is creative. All thought, good and bad, is creative and tends to become a material thing. And, like the electricity, it can be constructive or destructive, depending on how you choose to use it; positively or negatively.
Contrary to popular belief, there is no one waiting to bring down fiery sheets of rain upon your head for wanting nice things in your life. Money may be the route of all evil, but it is a necessary evil. We need it in order to take care of all the necessary evils that make life worth living - like food and drink, light and gas, cars and houses. It's having these things that put us in a position to help less fortunate people.
When you sip a glass of Brunelo; savor a piece of chocolate; wash the dishes; vacuum the carpet; take a shower; call on a friend; flirt with a new and tantalizing person; cook food; make love; go shopping for a suede shirt or silk underwear; or, hit your thumb with a hammer - enlightenment is there. We are never separated from it. There is no need to look for enlightenment in any place other than where we are.
An action plan is a brief list of tasks that you have to carry out to achieve an objective. It differs from a To Do list in that it focuses on the achievement of a goal, rather than focusing on goals to be achieved in a period of time. Wherever you want to achieve something, drawing up an action plan allows you to concentrate on the stages of that achievement, and monitor your progress towards that achievement.
You need to revers the evidence of your senses; trick your senses into believing things are better than they are, until they are. Think about what you want, create a picture of it in your mind, and make it very clear and precise. Hold it there and focus on it in a gentle, positive way until it becomes more and more of a reality to you. The secret of successful visualisation is to think about what you want, not what you don't want.
Attitude is a reflection of the person inside. Having a great attitude is not the result of having a great life; having a great life is the result of having a great attitude. Cultivate a great attitude. With a great attitude you can choose the kind of day you're going to have. Today you can cry because roses have thorns or you can celebrate that thorns have roses. Today stretches ahead of you, waiting to be shaped. And here you are, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.
We are all capable of becoming tired, selfish, resentful and fatigued to a child-minded state in which our judgment and reasoning is impaired, causing us to dwell on unreasonable fears and paranoias, even causing panic attacks. When you feel like this it is important to stay calm, get plenty of rest, and think positive. Try to distract yourself by doing something that calls for concentration and one-track mindedness, and stick with it until you are feeling stronger.
