    Changing a 250v receptacle to 120v
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this. Basically, I
Purchased a new washing machine. The receptacle for the old machine
Appears to be, I believe, a 250v receptacle (it has two small horizontal
Prongs and a circular (ground) prong)and it attached to a double breaker
At the box. The new machine requires a standard 120vac, 60Hz outlet.
I've changed receptacles before, but never one like this. I take it
There is more involved than simply changing the receptacle or can I simply replace one with the other?

It's probably something you should not do. It will require making sure the wire gage is appropriate for the load. The breaker would need to be changed to a single pole breaker of the correct rating. The hole from the second pole covered with a blank. The white wire from the old breaker needs to go to neutral. And probably needs to be inspected because it would likely be considered new work.
