    Russia, the language & Culture.
I know it must sound crazy but in the past few months I have become obsessed with Russian culture. Everything about it interests me so much, especially the language! I have started to learn some conversational phrases, but plan on pursuing the language to a higher extent in college. Does anyone know what advantages there would be in an American speaking Russian? (In the job field I mean. I heard Russian is only good for the Oil business or CIA industry) I soon hope to master the language and visit Russia, as I really yearn for it! If anyone can answer my questions it would help a lot, Spasibo;)

Thanks Firmbeliever, but those are international jobs... I am asking for what jobs perhaps in America would be needed to speak Russian...

My uncle works as a Russian translator for the government, but he's in the Air Force.

The medical field has great need for people who are bilingual. The legal field as well.

These places frequently call in translators when needed.

Knowing another language is always an added benefit.
    -jobwise and crowdwise.
This is especially useful if you plan to travel to any of the ex soviet republics
