I'm 13 years old and I've been having a discharge for about a year. I've searched symptoms and I believe it's a yeast infection. I'm still a virgin so I must have got it a different way but as you can imagine I don't want to tell my mom about because its rather embarrassing and I wouldn't know how to tell her.
I was wondering if anyone knew any athome remedies or non-prescription medicines to help. Thanks

I have heard eating yogurt, or garlic, can help. But your best bet is to tell your mom and she can get you some OTC medicine for it.

Your mom will understand. Women know that things like this can happen. I have only known a few women that have never had one, everyone else I know has had at least ONE. Just talk with your mother about this and she will help you any way she can. That's what mothers are for. :)

A year! You poor thing. It isn't embarrassing or a sign that you are doing anything sexual, either. Sometimes bacteria gets in where it shouldn't be.

At least now there is over the counter medication and you won't have to go to the doctor, unless mom thinks it is best.

You possibly have got the yeast infection from wearing tight clothes as its been warm you get hot a sweaty and the bacteria go crazy and multiply its common sweetheart don't be afraid to talk to your mum and get some treatment in the mean time wear cotton undies and some looser clothing and wash with un perfumed soap so as not to irritate it even more.

Don't worry. Mom's know there are lots of ways to get a yeast infection besides sex. There are some things at the store that she can buy if you let her know. :)

Hold on here. She is 13, this could be very normal discharge for a young girl her age.

Hun, what are your symptoms? Is there itching? Burning when you pee?

Now, if it is a yeast infection almost every girl/woman have had one. It has very little to do with sexual activity. So don't think your mom will think you are sexually active if you tell her. Monistat is an over the counter cream that you can get at any pharmacy.

And as far as the clothing, well I don't have to repeat it. CBW said it very well.

I also forgot to tell you, there are tests you can get to determine if you have an infection. They are a pee on a stick type of thing, like a pregnancy test. You can also go get diagnosed by your doctor.

If you don't have one, it is probably just normal discharge as J_9 said. :)

I did tell her, in a way I guess, to tell her mom. I know I didn't say it directly though. The tester was just a suggestion.

I'm not sure if it's a yeast infection or a normal discharge I mean I don't have itching or burning during urination but I just hate it I've had this for about a year now and well I'm very self conscious about it :/

If it isn't itching, it probably isn't a yeast infection. The itching for those will drive you mad.

Most likely your own body doing its thing.

Have you had your first pap smear, yet? You can ask the doctor the questions you aren't comfortable asking your mom.

I'm sure she hasn't had her first PAP yet Em. They aren't doing those now until 18 years of age or sexually active, whichever comes first. TYPICALLY, now there are other reasons for doing them, but the guidelines have changed since we were younger.

Hun, have you had your first period yet? If there is no itching or burning, then this is just healthy discharge, and it will usually get thicker right before your period.

I had a yeast infection and I'm 14 and everyone's told me its not by having sex.
Someone told me if you wear a wet bathing suit for a lkong time after swimming In the lake or soemthing like that can give you a yeast infectiona dn I think that's wear I got mine
And I know its extremely hard to tell you mom
I struggled with it for like 4 months
But I eventually did it and told her, just go up to her when no one else is around or go out with her when she goes out so you can tell her in the car or something.
My mom got my this over the counter yeast infection cream and pill Type thing, and it was cleared up in a week.

Just Tell your mom you don't feel comfortable goig to the doctor and you'd rather get the over the counter medicine.
O you might fnd out you don't even have a yeast infection. :)

I don't really know how to explain it like I discharge everyday (if that makes sense) and sometimes it feels like I'm leaking or something even when I'm not on my period its been going on for over a year and I don't itch or anything badly but I don't know what else it could be

Sweetie, this is normal discharge for us women. If there is no itch, discoloration or bad smell it is normal and healthy for us.

It helps to rid our bodies of bacteria that can cause vaginal problems. It also alleviates vaginal dryness that can cause problems.

Although it is a pain in the you know what, it is perfectly normal. All women have it to one extent or another.

If it is just a normal discharge should it be going on for this long?
