I have a basement floor drain which is clogged. Had a plumber try to clear the drain with power snake, however, was only able to partially unclog. The drain handles my furnace; water softener and water heater. The plumber says that the drain pipe is galvanized or iron and is most likely corroded from the salt and rust. Explained that it would be necessary to replace the drain. This will entail removing the concrete and replacing the drain. I am cappable of removing the concrete and purchasing a new drain, however, I'm not how much is involved in replacing the old drain once it is uncovered. Are there any schematics available? The drain is approximately 30yrs old.

    Tell you whot Joe!

A galvanized drain line tells me the rest of your drainage is cast iron. You take up the crment back to where the galvanized connects into the cast iron and I'll walk you through converting to PVC and installing a new floor drain. Sound like a plan? Cheers, Tom

Thanks for the quick response on the floor drain... The floor drain does connect to a PVC main line
