How would I determine wiring for ceiling fan remote control
I have a Hampton Bay Callaway I bought in 1995. Actually I have 2 of them and one is still working, but one quit working completely. The remote control receiver unit went bad and I am trying to replace it with a new Hampton Bay remote control but I cannot tell what the fan motor wires are. I have no wiring diagram. It has 4 wires: red, grey, pink and yellow. Is there any way to tell which 2 wires I need to connect to the new remote control? I have checked continuity and 2 pair are continuous. On the old remote control receiver unit the red wire is connected to the white AC wire through a 4.5 uf capacitor, the circuit board is marked "S" for this wire and the next wire is grey, it is marked "1" and the other two wires are marked "M"

    Thanks,
    Gary

You need to get the SAME remote control from the manufacturer that will have the same color wires.
