    Lessor breaking agreement
I am a student that is moving to detroit for school. I went to look at apartments and rented an apartment out. At this time I had given my deposit and signed a lease agreement. I just called them today to schedule the elevators to move in and they told me they changed management and in the change my file was missed and they rented out my apartment to someone else. What should I do?

What do you have in writing from them? Do you have a copy of the lease agreement you signed? What does it say?

It seems that at the very lease you'd be entitled to a full refund of anything you paid them. I would request reimbursement for travel expenses, other costs you incurred to travel there to find a place to live, as you now will have to make another trip there for that same purpose.

Do they have anything else you could rent? Even if they have to upgrade you to a larger unit at the lower price, etc? (If they tell you they don't have someone else call and ask about availability.)

That totally stinks - sorry that happened to you!
