    HPT Confusion
OK two days ago I took 3 equate hpts all positive and then I took a first response this morning and it was negative.. This is driving me crazy!! I don't know If I'm pregnant or not.. Its been 8 weeks since my last period and I have so many symptoms its not funny! I really think I'm pregnant! I think I'm going to tell my mother tomorrow and see if she'll make me a dr's appt. I'm just scared what if its nothing? My fiancé is being a real pain and he just doesn't think I am.. He gets so mad when I ask me friends for advice so I'm just terrified! I'm almost sure I am.. what do you think:(

It is rare to get a false positive. But I have heard of it happening. Some HPT tests have different sensitivities.. meaning they detect the HCG at different levels, so if you took a test with a lower sensitivity it may show positive while others are still showing negative.

But so you have a concrete yes or no I would call your doctor and get a blood test.

I think you have some issues to work out with your fiancé. WHY on earth would he be mad at you for asking for advice and questioning your pregnancy symptoms? I'm assuming you're very young if you plan on asking your mom to make a doctor's appointment. Is that why you both sound so stressed?

Call and make an appointment. If you're 4+ weeks late, its possible you are. You'll need to schedule a blood test to determine if you're pregnant.

Also, if you buy another home test, urinate on it when you first get up in the morning. You'll get a better result.

Different tests will test differently. Even the same kind of test in the same pack. If you get one pos you are pregnant. There is no such thing as a false pos. in my book. (read: PeeOnAStick.com ) If you had 3 pos tests... I'd say you are def. pregnant. Get to your doc.

Unfortunately I know for a fact that there is such a thing as a false positive. Even on the really "advanced" HPT's I took one of the digital kinds and it was positive. I got all excited and made an appointment with my doctor only to find out it was false. Granted they are very rare but do happen. It is even more rare to have multiple false positives. If you took more than one test and they were all positive then I would assume that you are pregnant. Good luck to you and best wishes

You probably had an early miscarriage then. It happens to millions of women everyday, and some never know. Due to the extreme accuracy of the tests, women find out very early they are pregnant. The tests only look for a hormone created in pregnancy.

Fortunately and unfortunately I know it was not an early miscarriage because of the fact that I have not ovulated in over 9 months. Despite the fact that I was excited over nothing, there was no biological way I could have been pregnant. Thank you for your opinion but it is inaccurate

You learn something new everyday, however I was only going by the facts I was always taught. The test looks for hcg, its only produced in pregnancy (or some rare cases, tumors)... IM not saying it didn't happen to you, but in this girls case, A false positive is not possible.

Congrats are most likely in order. If you had three positive tests then I would assume you are pregnant. You need to make a doctors appointment, most doctors like to see you for your first visit between 8 to 10 weeks, which is about where you are.
I don't see why your mom needs to make your appointment. In my opinion if you are old enough to have sex and be a mother then you should be old enough to call your doctor and make your appointment. I don't mean this to sound harsh, but it looks like you are going to be a mother so you need to start doing things for yourself because soon you will have to be doing things for another little one.
As far as your fiancé goes. He might be afraid and just in denial. If you don't talk about it maybe it will go away. But he is going to have to buck up and take the responsibility. He is about to be a dad. He needs to be supportive and understanding... he had a part in this. It does take two to tango.
