Wrong change? Am I THAT bad at Math?
Hello all!
I work in a supermarket and today I feared I am losing my sanity!
I served a customer the transaction total was £5.64.
The customer paid me a £10 note and 54p in coins... so, I began to count out the change. £4.90 right?
I then said to the customer...
'Sorry it £5.64 not £5.54. Do you want to give me another 10p and then you will get a £5 note change?'.
'Ok, I'll give you another £1' the customer said.
Just to recap... that now takes the total they have given me to £11.54. Correct? I hope so!
Now, I then took a £5 note out for change and 90p. When I went to give this to the customer they argued that I was giving them too much change!
After the customer was very blunt and rude to me and going thorough the transaction details several times they left with the money commenting...
'The supermarket takings are going to be down but I'm sure they can afford the mistake'.
Now it's not surprising I hate and loathe my job but things like this make doubt if I'm losing my mind!
Someone please tell me I'm right? Haha!
