In Windows, click Start, then Search.
Use this feature to search this:
    *.pdf

When using this tool to search, the "*" means "anything".

Just one thing to add to Rick's answer, you want to select to search Files and Folders.

    Pdf files
    Hi,
As another said, the Start/Search will work, for xp.
If you have Win98SE, it will be go to Start/Find/ then Files or Folders.
Type in *.pdf; and the * is the symbol over the 8 key on the keypad.
Press and hold down the Shift key, then the 8 key.
It will find any file name ending in .pdf.
    Search the C: Drive.
    Best wishes,

You could do a search on simply ".pdf", but you would get thousands upon thousands of results. If you are looking for something specific, you could put in keywords along with .pdf - for example:

I want to search for a model 682c9 VCR instruction manaul in PDF format, so I would use these keywords when searching:
682c9 along with VCR and .pdf
And hopefully that would yield some helpful results.

Yes, you'll need to use search terms.

At Google, there is a link for "Advanced Search" off to the right. Click it. Complete the applicable fields of the first 4 fields, then two more fields down you'll see a "File Format" option. Choose PDF there.

Click the Google Search button and you're on your way.

You need to be WAY more specific that that. There are millions of PDF documents on the WEB. What EXACTLY are you looking for.

    Hi,
If I knew what you were specifically looking for, in regards to .pdf files, I might be able to help you more.
As others stated, simply searching at Google for pdf files can give you a LOT of links to research!
    Best wishes,

    Need,
Apparently Fred doesn't or he just doesn't care. Its more important to him to build up his numbers to make him look better (a difficult task). Most of us are more concerned with the needs of the asker. Unless we can add something substantial to previous replies we skip the question, but not Fred. If a previous answer asked for more info, we would wait for the asker's reply rather then tell them the same thing again.

Unfortunately, I've had to deal with Fred for close to three years on several sites. This pattern became obvious very quickly. No amount of friendly advice (in the beginning it was friendly) on how bad this makes him look or how most volunteers have used these sites has changed this pattern. The only result was the enmity that now exists and the vicious attacks he has perpetrated over the those years.

Did you bother to read your answers? There are millions of PDF files on the Net. Yes you can search for them but you need to narrow your scope. Why don't you explain what you are really looking for instead of ignoring the advice you got?
