    Mom and dad tensions
    I am 16.

My dad is bipolar. He had an outbreak before the summer and went to the hospital, but everything (for the most part) got better.

Today when he got home from work, he told me that my mom told him "to leave and never come back" a few days ago. He swore at me when I got home today. There are so many ups and downs, I don't know if another outbreak is coming.

Is your father taking his medication at the correct dosage and same time of the day; and has his levels been check?

I feel for you,I too am bi-polar and have had emotional outbreaks upon my family in the past, medications and therapy made a lot of difference.

My summer manic fit landed me in the hospital too,it took months to stabilize the meds. They are still making small changes even today.

Please hang in there,It might look grim, and your fears are real, not knowing when the next one might occur.

Can you get your health class to go over some of the symptoms/treatments of bi-polar disorder?I did this as a report in school for GOUT,which my father had suffered from,Got an A(because I was so intimately involved with it!)and I still see it mentally.

Let us all know how you are doing with this,I for one, am VERY interested, being that my 21 year old daughter lives here with me and she has to "deal"with some of my mood swings too.

    Hope this helps,
    Ken
