    Thermostat wiring
I had an older honeywell thermostat and I wanted to change it to a programmable one. I have a multistage heat pump. I have 6wires coming out of the wall, that are not labeled and can get my ac or heat to work. I did purchace a RTH7400 thermostat that is by honeywell. My wires are red, pink, orange, white, green and yellow. Is there a way I can get the combination right for the wiring? They are not labeled.

Go to the air handler and see what they are connected to there. That will tell you how to connect at the thermostat

    acetc
Go to the air handler and see which color wires connect to what letter on the printed circuit board and then go out side and see what color wires connect to what letter.
The red normally connects to "R" , the green to "G", the yellow to "Y", the White to "W2", the orange to "O". The pink is going to have to be chased out ,Might go to "C".
