My sewer backed up and I had fecus and toilet paper in the basement. Called the plumber who came over and allegedly used a roto machine but I didn't hear a thing when he allegedly used it. When he left, he hadn't done anything toward cleaning the basement of the fecus/toilet paper. I cleaned it up which wasn't hard using a pooper scooper. I received a bill for $112. I feel he could have at least used a tool to take the papers out of the drain well and maybe picked up some of the papers. To me, he didn't finish the job and when I called the company, I was told his repairman wouldn't have cleaned any part of the stuff from the sewer. Also, I was told if the repairman had cleaned the dirt up, it would have cost me $65 an hour to which I replied I would have paid to have had it cleaned. I'm not a young person but did go down to the basement and clean it as best I could. I don't have any sink in the basement so had to carry pitchers of water downstairs to clean the floor. I took several pictures of how the repairman left the basement especially with papers in the drain well. Thank you, Lee Bangert

Sorry you were not happy with this fellas job but plumbers don't normally do clean up. They remove what they pull from the pipe but don't pooper scooper your floor.

He didn't have to remove anything but the papers in the drain well. Why couldn't he have at least done that? Also, doesn't a roto rooter make noise when used? I don't believe he used one. He said he couldn't find anything that had made the sewer back up. Two days earlier, he'd been here to repair the pipe in the basement where a lead had occurred from the toilet. Could that have had something to do with the 2 days later sewer backup?

It is possible that he may have contributed to the backup with a mistake he may have made. Guess we will never know but I'd recommend watching most repair jobs. Tradesmen are generally honest folk but not 100%.

You may tell the company you are calling next time your whole problem and situation and see if they will cleanup any other areas of the bathroom besides the drain itself before telling them to come out. And if they tell you it is $65.00 / hour to do the cleanup after they unstop the clogged drain and you are comfortable with that price, then by all means tell them to come on out. It is best to let them know what they are coming to in the beginning.

Sewage backup cleanup needs an specialization to insure that its really clean and away from any bad odors or mess because specialists on this field as a complete and proper equipment's fro cleaning as well as knowledge on how to make it.

Bottom line! Plumbers don't carry cleaning materials in their truck. We do try to pick up after ourselves but sewage on the floor's another story. I hope everything's going well and everything's been all cleaned up. Good lick, Tom
