Ok, here's the thing. My girlfriend and I have been going out close to a year. (9 months and twelve days to be exact.) and today is my birthday (I turn 22) and I was wondering if I hypothetically if I were to ask her if she were ready to have sex, would that make me look like "one of those guys" you know, the selfish kind, the kind who only want sex, and such?

Considering it's been almost a year, probably not.

If you talk her into it and she gives in and does it just because you want her too. Trust me- she'll regret it and she'll hold it against you. She may not be angry with you or whatever, but it will hurt inside. That is something a girl wants to be perfect- especially if she has been waiting and keeping her virginity for so long. Don't ask her to do it just because it's your birthday.

I would just make the move and see what happens. Not because It's your birthday but because you love her and want to be close to her.
