Using pvc with glue wiped off ?
I was trying to glue a 3 in pvc tee and could not make the connection.I immediately wiped off the glue from both ends without joining them, can I reuse the tee?

The "glue" is really a powerful solvent... it actually melts the PVC plastic.

I don't know if it'll leak when you try to reuse the fitting, but is it worth the couple of bucks to risk it? How much hassle will it be to cut it all out and start over (with new fittings and pipe... )?

    Your call, of course!

No I would dispose of the t. and why could you not make the connection. If you tried to join the parts and they pushed apart that is a common problem with larger pipe diameters. To remedy this, glue both pieces, join them together and hold in place for just a little while and let the glue dry enough to hold the joint together. The glue is not forming a "seal" by taking up the space between the parts, but is actually "welding" the joint by melting both pieces and as it dries bonds, or "welds" , the two pieces together.

The female hub of a female PVC fitting has a taper so the male end isn't going to slip right in and seat. Toss the tee and try again. Good luck, Tom
