    Dodge truck wiring question
I am working on a project Dodge truck. I want to wire the alternator without going through the ammeter. The harness I have has been modified before I got it and I have a question as to where the 3 wires on the alternator go. There is the normal, large black wire coming from the alternator which connects to the positive side of the battery. The green and red wires go to the voltage regulator. The red wire has a splice in it that has also been cut-off somewhere along the line. Can I leave the wiring the way it is or does the red wire splice need to connect somewhere else on the vehicle? All I want to do is make sure the alternator charges the battery when the engine is running. Any suggestions or help? Thanks!

Got it! The red wire needs to be spliced through the ignition switch. Just thought I would answer my own question in case someone else needs to know.
