    Anode rods
Do all hot water heaters have 'anode rods'? My husband thinks our new one does not because there is no similar place on top of the unit like the last one.

An anode rod is a self sacrificing magnesium rod that protects against electrolosis. Every tank type water heater will have one. However, they do make a plastic water heater, I do not know if they have an anode rod
