My 98 honda civic coupe was flooded water level was up to the door water went in the car my ecu (computer)might have gotten wet it started for about 45 minutes then went dead. Can Anybody Help thanks

It's likely the ECM needs replacing. Water, from flooding and windows left down in summer storms, are two common ways that ECMs bite the dust. Run the K-Test on your ECM and, if it fails the test, replace with a remanufactured Cardone ECM, with a lifetime warranty, from O'Reilly Auto Parts. It will cost 1/3 of what a new Honda ECM goes for, which only comes with a 1-year warranty.

The K-Test: Remove the MAP Sensor connector and turn the ignition switch to ON (Position II). Using a multimeter, check for 5 volts going between the MAP Sensor connector's reference wire (+) and ground. As you look at the connector, this is the socket on the right. Really press the black test lead into a cleaned main ECM ground on the thermostat housing. If the voltage is low, it's probably indicating ECM failure. Most failed ECMs will record a fraction of a volt. To me, the K-Test is simple, elegant, and accurate.
