    Physical Therapy, Job
Im only 16, but when I get older, I want to do Physical Therapy. So I was wondering if there's any good tips for classes I should take in school, or good places to get a job that can help me out. Im a junior this year, and I've taken Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, and next year Im taking Allied Heath, because I backed out on taking it this year.

Biology, anatomy, health, and chemistry will help the most. Algebra is important to do good in as well. Remember, good grades may help you to get into the school of your choice. Work hard in gym. You'll need to be in good shape for this work, which requires long hours on your feet -- and can also involve lifting patients. You could also volunteer at a hospital or another health care facility to find out if this is the path for you. Good luck!

Also, be sure to include psychology and sociology courses. Psych is how an individual thinks and feels, and why he does what he does. Soc is how individuals interact in a group. General psych and abnormal psych will help you learn about emotional and mental problems in patients and will give you a vocabulary you will often use with other medical professionals. If you understand your patients and where they are coming from, you will be a much more effective physical therapist who will be able to fit the right therapy to each patient.

I worked as a PT aide for two years. Being able to understand and empathize with your patients will serve you well.

See if you can get a job at a sports medical facility or orthopedists. Obviously it won't be working directly with patients, you will be doing grunt work, like picking up towels, moving around equipment, mopping the floors etc. But it will help you learn and look great on a resume.
