Emancipation of 18 yr old in Indiana
My husband and I share joint physical custody of his eighteen year old daughter with her mother. We still make weekly support payments. My stepdaughter decided she wanted freedom and moved in with her aunt. What steps do we take to discontinue the support payments? Also, if she enrolls in college are we legally obligated to pay for any portion of those expenses. We also gave her a car that is titled in her name and my husbands as is the insurance policy. What do we do in this mess?

    Thanks

What does it say in the divorce decree in regards to payments for college?

As for ending support payments you could also request a modification of support from your court system now that she is no longer living with the mother.

There is no divorce decree, the parents were never married.

Was there any court ordered support? Such payments are generally done via a court order. The court order normally specifies the term and conditions of support payments.

If your husband has been voluntarily paying support, then generally support ends at the 18th birthday or when she graduates high school whichever is later.
