Do I need to hook my vent pipe back up that goes through the roof
Recently, we have been remodeling our bathroom, it had a big garden tub, and a stand up shower in the corner. We removed the garden tub and stand up shower. Okay. We put in a tub with tub surround and commode. We cut our water lines that went to our old tub and shower and they are no- longer hooked to the sewer pipes, or my washer is no longer on our sewer.. okay we pluged off two lines that went into the sewer drain, the one where the old shower was and the old tub. The only line hooked to our sewer drain is the commode and the sink in the bathroom. But we haven't hooked up the vaniety yet. It has a straight pipe coming up from the floor looks like some kind of a vent. Lately, we starting having gases odors coming in our home. We have a vent pipe that goes through our roof. But its no longer hooked to our sewer pipe. Should we hook this back in the sewer pipe or when we hook up our sink water lines in the bathroom will the smell go away, or what do I need to do? Thanks

Question... if it rains, where is the water going that enters the pipe on the roof? Another question... what happens if you have a full coke bottle and turn it upside down after opening? And yet another question... is it true that sewer gas is actually a form of methane gas and can be flammable as well as explosive and have a bad odor?

A better response would have been, hey, I did not know that.
My dad taught me 'if you find out the 'why' the how is easier to figure out.
I gave you the reasons, therefore I answered your question.
