    Hi

    My specs

    asus p4p8x mobo
    2 x 256 PC 400 RAM
    2.4 ghz
    ati 9800 pro

Know I recently installed 2 new sticks of ram 2 x 256 PC 400. To move the computer up to 1 gig. When I started up the computer I would get Overclocking Failed error. I got around that by manually setting the RAM frequency to 400. Know the system reboots then I don't get the overcloking failed screen, It goes to the windows xp loading screen and after about a second the computer restarts itself. I let it run it happened about 3 times then on the 4 turn a screen came up and said BIOS checksum error. Know I am stuck their. Any solutions?

    Thanks

Did bios recognize you as having the full gig in the bios startup screen?
(before it actually goes on to loading windows)

I have the same mother board and video card, and want to make
Mine a gig from 512 as well. Did you pair up the old ram then add new ram?
Or did you leave the old ram as is and fit the new in between them.
    EG:
    Old, old, new, new
    (or)
    Old, new, old, new

Someone once told me you have to keep the ram in pairs.
Old, old, new, new (something to do with sharing across the bus)
But I haven't installed any yet so I don't know if it really matters or not.
Right now ram slots are (256, empty, 256, empty) so it makes me wonder.
Please post how you finally make out and which way yours is. Thx...
