Troy Bilt Super Bronco main drive
I have a Troy Bilt Super Bronco 42" deck rider, It has the veri-drive I believe it is called. Yesterday while mowing I had the drive pedal engaged and the mower just stopped and it started smoking from underneath the mower and wouldn't move in forward or reverse. It will go into gear(forw. And Rev) but when you step on the pedal it just starts smoking. I removed the deck and lifted it up and checked the belts, they are intact but the main drive belt is kind of loose but when you press on the pedal it tightens up. The engine runs fine. Is there a history of differential problems with this mower? Or where would be the first place to go? New main drive belt first?

    Thank you in advance,

    Allan

Well, I Believe You Should Check The Bearings In The Two Pulleys About 1/2 Way Up The Unit. Check Them For Play, Uneven Wear, And Check To See If The Pulleys Are Locked Up.
