Clutch Replacement on John Deere 160 Lawn Tractor
I am trying to remove and replace my clutch on a John Deere 160 Lawn Tractor. When I turn the bolt at the base of the clutch that holds the clutch to the mower, the belt wheel spins so that I am unable to loosen the bolt. Anyone have any ideas on how to stop the wheel from spinning?

If you have an air wrench that will remove it quickly. Very difficuilt for one person with hand tools. Can you find an extra set of hands to sweeze belt and hold clutch?

I was recently told to remove the spark plug, carefully feed a 2-3 foot piece of clothesline into the spark plug hole, then carefully turn the nut at the bottom of the clutch. The clothesline will hold the piston so you can loosen the nut. The clutch then slide off. Leave the clothesline in place, till you replace the clutch. The once you have tightened the nut, rotate the piece back a little, till you can carefully remove the clothesline. I tried this and it worked like a charm. I am just having trouble getting the right tension either on the belt, or clutch now. This clothesline trick was told to me by a john deere repair person.:)
