Can I glue styrene fitting to PVC?
Hello! I just recently purchased a quantity of 4" PVC sewer & drain pipe to drain the water from my downspouts to a small drainage lake in my backyard. I asked the supply house for PVC pipe and fittings, but when I got home, I discovered that the fittings are stamped as 'styrene', while the pipe and pipe-downspout adapters are labeled 'PVC'. The glue that they supplied seems to be the standard glue that I've used for PVC in the past, but it doesn't say anything about using it for glueing Styrene. The supply house rep was new and seemed hesitant when I asked if the provided glue would work to connect the pvc pipe to the styrene fitting and he said that it would. I've found the same fittings in PVC at my local Lowe's, so I can use all PVC. I just wanted to know if Styrene can be glued to PVC and if so, does it take a more specific type of solvent weld glue than the general purpose PVC glue? Thanks for any info!
