Another Hampton Bay Remote Wall Switch.
I just purchased a Hampton Bay Remote controlled ceiling fan. It came with a wall remote that I need to wire in. I am weary of attempting to wire in the wall remote because in big letters it says...

DO NOT CONNECT TO NEUTRAL WHITE WIRE!

The problem is, I have 14/2 wiring and the power enters the fan fixture. I have no idea which wire is which.

    In other words,

    1. I have a remote wall switch with one black wire labeled "TO FAN" and another labeled "TO POWER SUPPLY". They both say "DO NOT CONNECT TO NEUTRAL WHITE WIRE"

    2. I have a white and black wire in the switch receptacle.

How can I determine how to wire this up? Right now I have the fan and light fixture working with an external hand held remote and a single pole switch. I don't want to burn up $30 guessing the manner in which I should wire in the remote wall switch.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

So u have 3 wires in the switch box a white a black and a copper.
This is just called a drop back. In the box the white is the power and the black goes back to the fan and you nave no neutral in that location its up at the fan location. I have a remote wall switch with one black wire labeled "TO FAN connect this to the black wire.and another labeled "TO POWER SUPPLY". Connect this to the white wire. To make sure that the white wire is your power supply test it and if you don't have a tester hit it to the bare copper it will make a spark and trip the breaker.

You connect the new switch the same way the old wall switch was connected. Each should have only two connections.
