What do I need to know about cartiladge piercing before I get anything done?
I've been wanting to get the cartiladge in my ear pierced for quite some time now, but I keep hearing horror stories from people about severe infections, etc. I feel like there are some things I should know before getting this done (to prevent anything from happening). I'm aware that any type of piercing will cause some form of pain and also needs special care afterwards, but where should I go to get this? And what are some things I should do in order to not risk an infection? Any advice would be really, really appreciated! :)

Is it αn industriαl piercing your looking αt?. or whαt kind?

Just remember these piercings αre more pαinful αnd tαke more time to heαl.
Don't get pierced by α gun --since guns don't αutoclαve it could increαse your risk of infection αnf it could crush your sking cαusing well more pαin.. αlso mαke sure the piercer is weαring gloves αnd using fresh equipment αnd use αppropriαte hypoαllergenic jewlery.

    Good luck to yα <3

This is just my opinion, but I would go to a piercing/tattoo parlor to get it done. Have them do it with a hollow needle, not a gun. The guns are not sterilized, which is the first step in the wrong direction when it comes to a piercing.

The best way to prevent infection is to leave the piercing alone. Don't play with it, and when you must touch it, make sure your hands are washed and clean. Clean it with antibacterial soap twice a day for two weeks, and after that two weeks reduce the cleaning to once a day. Overcleaning will cause irritation. They will probably offer to sell you a saline solution, such as h2ocean. It is not recommended to use things like this on your piercings because it will dry out the piercing and also cause irritation. Twist the earring once a day, rotating it only ONCE. Other than that, don't touch it.

Hi, erm I got the top of my ear pierced last week and I must be honest it hurts for a about a minute (it just stings) and then after that your ear goes all hot and you can't really feel it, but kills when you turn it the first time and when you clean it the first time, I still can't sleep on mine but I've haven't had done long so what can I expect lol.
Just remember if you do get it done, remember you have to clean it 5 times a day with sea salts or surgical spirit. Oh and by the way I had mine done in a jewlers with a gun and had a silver stud in it, I've heard that's bad but me and my 3 friends all got it done the same and we are all fine :) lol xx

Cleaning 5 times per day is entirely too much. This much cleaning will interrupt the healilng process, causing the piercing to potentially take twice as long to heal. The overuse of sea salts will cause extreme irritation in your piercing, so keep sea salt use to a minimum.
