To all experienced Plumbers... Madam Goodwrench continues to remodel bathrooms but is totally stumped on which valves to purchase(need 3)... don't want to make any expensive mistakes. Am told the Moentrol is powerful but must be accompanied by appropriate handle,etc. but can't seem to find anyone who knows what goes! Any suggestions? One valve has to be with stops. Don't want to spend megabucks but don't want the cheapo's either... HELP!
Most tub/shower valves have screwdriver stops installed in the valve body at the point where the supplies connect. What are you looking for in a tub/shower valve? Top of the line, with all the bells and whistles, or a regular tub and shower valve? Regards, Tom
Tom always comes to the rescue! Don't need top of the line but do want BOTH temp and volume control... have looked at Hansgrohe because. It has tub spout style more 'modern' looking to compliment Brizo Riviera lav faucet selection... pricy but not prohibitive. Also checked the Delta Innovations series with 'universal' valve which allows changing the trims at another time... and priced right.. any experience with any of these items out there?Quote:

Sorry, but I retired back in 1988. Anything I learn from the newer faucets I pull off the web.
Delta is a large line that has good history. I used to live in Florida and the water was very aggressive so the moen performed better. I live in Georgia now and the water is not aggressive and the delta performs well here. How is the water there?
For Doug238: As to the quality of water here... we are in the midwest and the water is so hard it clangs! We have base minerals (white vinegar always helps for cleaning tubs/sinks) but I didn't know the water might direct which valve to choose. Thanks for the tip. And rest assured, I'll not tackle this project myself... I'll hire a proper plumber.
