    Head lice
I had lice and my head itched like crazy and I felt crawling. So then my mom put mannayoise in my hair and suffacated all of them. They all came out but my head still itches... but no crawling and I don't think I have lice anymore. But the itching is my question. Am I just getting over the bites? Or do you think I still have them?

Well mαyo doesn't αlwαys do the trick -- eww by the wαy do you like the smell in your hαir? :)

1- check for everyone in the house [αnd pets] for lice
2- cleαn everything; pillows, clothes, mαtress, sheets, hαts.. etc
3- try using olive oil or mαyo αgαin leαve it αs long αs possible αnd comb it out
4- blow dry your hαir αs heαt cαn kill them
    5- exαmine your hαir dαily
6-if it still itches go to your phαrmαcy αnd mαke sure you get treαtment without "lindαne" since it hαs been αssociαted with α number of serious medicαl conditions, including seizures αnd possibly cαncer

Tip: if you don't hαve αccess to α wαsher αnd dryer, isolαte the infected clothes αnd bedding in α gαrbage bαg for 2 weeks--the lice will die in this time

    Good luck to yα hun<3

Well just thinking of lice makes my head it, if it still itches after what sara said, then I bet this is all it is. See if you can get your mind off it, if you can then it is most likely just you thinking about it

Frequently Asked Questions About Head Lice
    What is Pediculosis?
Pediculosis or head lice are tiny, wingless bugs about the size of a sesame seed or smaller. They have six legs with tiny claws and live only on human scalps. Head lice can range in color from light brown to gray. While annoying, head lice are not life threatening.

    How widespread are head lice?
It is difficult to track head lice cases because head lice are not considered a disease and therefore public health departments and the Centers For Disease Control do not routinely track the number of head lice cases. However, schools and manufacturers of lice products estimate head lice cases at 12- 25 million infestations a year in the United States alone. Most of those infested are children under the age of twelve.

Head lice have been infesting humans since the cave days.

How do you get head lice?
Head lice do not hop, jump or fly. They migrate through direct contact with an infested person and their belongings.

Pets do not transmit head lice, and poor personal hygiene does not cause an infestation. In fact, head lice prefer clean, healthy heads.

Head lice do not live in, nor spontaneously generate from, the dirt, trees or the air. They live on the human head!

Once children reach a certain age, they are bound to feel embarrassed if they have a head lice infestation. If you are concerned the scalp may be infected (if sores or pus are visible) consult your doctor. Explain to your child about head lice prevention and treatment and that anyone can get them. They need to understand that they have not done anything wrong and that having lice does not make them dirty. You can work together as a team to treat the infestation and follow the preventative tips so that your child will remain, or soon be on his way to being, lice free:

    - Watch for signs of head lice - for example frequent head scratching.
    - Check family members on a weekly basis but only treat those infested.
    - Work under a good light from a lamp or by sitting by a window or even going outdoors.
    - Be careful not to confuse head lice with dandruff.
    - Be careful not to use an over-the-counter product on children under 2 or on those who are pregnant, nursing or who have allergies, asthma, epilepsy or other medical conditions.
    - Be careful about using any-over-the-counter product anyway because they are pesticides and can be potentially harmful.

The Dr. can give you a special wash you should use. Also the lice is probably in everything material. I had lice when I was younger and the Dr. said everyone in the house should use the special wash, and everything material needs to be washed and things like stuffed animals should be thrown away.

While mayonnaise may be good at suffocating the lice themselves, it will not kill the nits. The nits have a 10 day reproduction cycle. So, approximately 10 days after killing the lice, the nits will hatch and you will have lice again.

If you are in the states the best product for lice removal is RID and it can be purchased anywhere.

As stated above, you will need to treat all fabric in your home, pillows, sheets, sofas, stuffed animals, etc. RID now has sprays for things like stuffed animals and sofas that can't be washed in hot water.

Just an interesting FYI, to help you feel a little better, it is known that children who actually get lice are the CLEAN kids, not the dirty kids. Children who wash their hair on a daily basis tend to get lice easier than children who wash their hair every other day.

For girls who tend to get lice, it is better to keep your hair in pony tails and spritz a little hairspray on in the morning before going out.

If you used only Mayonnaise, the likelihood of a re-infestation is actually very high.

See I knew this, and as a kid I only washed my hair every month or so... I hate bugs...

Nits are the "eggs" that they lay in your hair. They are basically encapsulated on the strand of hair, similar to a cement. They are near impossible to see. They look like little white spots if you can see them, which is why they are sometimes mistaken for dandruff.

Home remedies for lice removal rarely work well. It is always advised to get a product such as RID so that the treatment is more effective. The comb that comes with it will aid in removing the nits.

NIX will work great too. They are both really about the same thing. Just use it EXACTLY as the directions say.

I had lice for like two years almost straight when I was in Elementary school.
It was horrible... I kept getting it from my school. But what she said above works the best.

Also for like 2 weeks bag your pillows, not the cases but the pillows and things so that if lice is in on you pillow the bag will suffocate them.
If your itching... a lot it probably is the after-affect of the biting.
