Make my bedroom more grown up?
I have some cute decorations on the walls of my room, but I feel like they are a little childish and I want to do something new and fun with the walls of my room but I don't know what. I don't want to do something dumb like posters either. I want it to be nice and sophisticated. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

I am 21 years old. My room is mainly white and navy blue with accents of purple and lime green.

You can go with a lot of different looks. I would do something with those French posters... pick the yellows, greens or reds out of them.
    Google Image Result for http://www.ricsartshop.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/cat-europoster.jpg
    Or even the art nouveu...

Or you can find a piece of art somewhere and base the room off that. I love tuscan art, my whole house revolves around it. I love that french poster style too. I would say find something you really like and pick off it.

Is this a dorm room, your apartment/house, or your parents?

French posters are very 21 year old, I think everyone I know did that but it looks so pretty. I did my living room in my first apartment with Italian advertisements from the 1920's and pulled out the colors. But those are great places to go to for inspiration.

When I was 21 my bedroom was red and gold and I had a red organza netting that hung from the ceiling down onto the bed. Oh, it was so pretty...

I still love French posters and old black and white photos from Paris.

Oh me too! I have a painting of paris in the rain hanging in the entrance of my house... I love it. It is my one non-italian piece, but it's just too neat to not hang.

I swear that a black and white picture of Paris is instant sophistication. It always looks good.

Find your favourite scenery from a magazine/internet, make a larger copy of it and pin the picture between two glass sheets and fix it and hang...
    Always classy...

Or even better make your own frame to hang
Buy a cheap frame... find some odd things like dried leaves, dried flowers and stick these (with a fabirc glue is best)onto the existing frame.. and then you may or may not add a picture to the frame as it is art by itself.
You can make different thems like woody with leaves etc
Beach with shells and sand etc
Or mixed with anything you find memorable...

    :)

    Another idea...

    Find some silver foil...
Find a pen that has run out of ink
Draw anything you want on the back of the silver
Then turn it over and you have embossed art
    Frame it and hang...

    Another one
Find fabrics of the colour theme in your room
Arrange them either in same size squares or strips (anyway you wish either alternating colours or mixed up...
Stick them onto a sheet and frame it with a classy black frame
    And you have instant art

    Another one
    Find an empty frame
    Take out the glass/covering
String beads together of different colours to match your room
Frame each string just like how you would a picture between the frames
Hang it (you can have as many number of strings in one frame as you can hang)
    It will be colourful
    Yet beautiful

P.S Thanks GlindaofOz for your appreciation of my art suggestions

I See You've Studied Some Interior Design... now What Are You Needing To Ask Questions For Lol. I Should Be Asking You... I Do A lot Of Designing Myself, I Do Agree No Posters, On Walls, But How About Bold Colors, I Like Earth Tones, Most Of My Rooms Are Darker Tans, And Two Tone Rooms My Kitchen Is Cranberry. Maybe Some Colors Like That, Instead Of The Lighter Blues And Yellows, As For Pictures Ive Always Liked The Paris Scenes, They Kind of Have That Rustic Look To Them, And Usually There In My Color Scheme Of Browns And Tans With A Little Color To Them In Deeper Reds.
This Is A More Grown Up Look I Think, Hope This Helps, Good Luck, eric
