    Texas Bank Account Seizure
I was threatened with a suit 18 months ago. I filed a letter of response with the court and never heard another word from them. I did receive a letter from an attorney for the plaintiff that said they were planning to obtain a judgment, but I did not receive any further documentation saying it'd been granted.

First question-- do they have to notify me of such or could there possibly be a judgment against me out there floating around without my knowledge?

Second question-- if there is such a judgment against me, can they seize my Texas checking and savings accounts, jointly owned and/or ones my hubby has in his name only?

    Thanks!

Were you given a court date? Did you appear? If not, then a default judgement was probably entered against you. Just because the court didn't respond to your letter before the fact didn't absolve you of your responsibility to appear and answer the charges against you. If a judgement was entered against you, it is possible that any account with your name on it could be seized, even if someone else's name is on it with you. If you were the only plaintiff in the suit in question, then your best bet may be for your husband to open a new account in his name only and have all of your money deposited into that one alone.

No, that's just my point. I was never notified of a court date or any proceedings at all. Of course I would have gone to a court hearing had I known about it. I am not trying to get out of any responsibility, which is why I responded with a letter to the suit (just as I was instructed). Since there was never another word from the COURT, I assumed it was dropped after I sent my response. I felt sure the court would notify me if a hearing had been set.
