I am trying to figure out what type of switch or controlled lighting would be best to use on a log cabin where all of the walls are 28" round logs? Would it be best to use ? I'm coming up with a blank. How should I mount the switch, andwhat is the appropriate cover type plate that would go to cover it? Are there any alternatives to the normal type of toggles switch that usually would be used?

Is this a cabin that is already constructed and you are adding switches? If so you may need to run your cable down the chinking crack. I have used my Rotozip to carve out for 2x4 blue plastic receptacle boxes but the cable was already there. You need to dish or scallop out a flat spot for the box and face plate. I have used a draw knife and chisel for the scallop. You can use a standard light switch or dimmer.

If conventional electrical switches, Could router until plate is Flat against wood.
Would be good if Trim Carpenter could work with Electrician.
Low voltage, IR, RF, Phone controlled are other options for control.
