    Firefox.exe
I had Firefox for my browser but decided to go back to IE. I went into Add/Remove programs and deleted it then to the registry, deleted there and it still appears as the icon with the websites I have saved on my desktop for easy access to get to online. When I click on one of them a dialog box opens and at the bottom of it is shown as Firefox.exe in C: as the place to look in, and of course, it can't be found in C: because it's deleted from the registry. How can I change these icons to IE so they will open and go to the websites?
I'm running Windows 2000 Pro and have Comcast High Speed cable.
    Thanks,Jim

If you installed it from Add/Remove programs you certainly not have had to go diving into the registry - it should have removed these for you. Here's what you need to do:

    • Open IE.
    • Click on Tools >> Internet Options
    • Click the Program tab
    • Near the bottom will be a check box saying "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser". Make sure this is checked.
    • OK the change and restart IE.
    • You should be asked if you want IE to be your default browser. Click on yes.

That should do it. Out of curiousity - why did you switch back to IE? You're the first person I've heard of switching back and I'm curious why. A lot of the experts here, myself included, recommend using Firefox instead of IE as it's a much more secure browser with excellent features.
