Hi everyone,
Why is it that if a girl sleeps with a couple guys, she is labeled a whore or a slut but if a guy does it, he is "The Man"? I hate people!!
Oh I KNOW what you mean! A man sleeps with like 10 girls in the same week and his buddies call him a hero. A girl does the same thing, she's the biggest whore ever! It's all got to do with the fact that eventhough women seem to have equal rights, we clearly don't. We can vote and we can wear pants and we can speak our mind, but we are still being controled by what men see fit. I Hate It So Much.
The double standard is alive and well in the world!
All you can do is change how YOU react to it. If you don't like it, the next time you hear a guy bragging, or a girl being put down, then SPEAK UP against it!
They may think they're "The Man", but we know better. To me, a guy that sleeps with everything that walks is not "The Man", he is "A Pig", plain and simple.
In my eyes a man who sleeps around a lot is like walking talking herpes.:) And if he hits on one of my gal friends, OH he regrets it.... pervert.......
Well, its just the same when it's opposite. When a guy looks at another guy, who's got girls in and out of the bed like clockworks, he's considered "the man" to the fellow guy's point-of-view. But to us girls, he is labeled " a player", and we HATE players. And when a guy looks at a girl who sleeps with a lot of guys, she isn't considered a slut or whore to them--they all think she's darn sexy, and are wishing that they get to sleep with her next. But to girls, that person is a "slut" or "whore" and the guy is a "player". But to guys, the girl is "sexy" and "dirty(but to them, in a good way)" and the guy is "the man". So guys and girls have different point of views on what to call who. Because girls are normally look at sex more maturally, when they are looking at others, but guys, look at it as "well, i'd love to have her in my bed" and they agree with the other male who's "the man" and having sex with her. It's a sad fact that all guys are the same in that way, but its true, and you just have to accept that at the end of the day, a guy's just a guy.Quote:

Have u noticed it is that way in the work place, men make more money than woman, double standard and it is wrong. As for the whore and slut part of it well who are we to judge anyway. No one is better than anyone else.
Omgsh! We should have a fem-olution:D
I really do not believe in sluts or whores. I think it is just women that are letting men use them , hoping for them to love them. I really think it is so sad. Now men on the other hand I believe are being whores and sluts. I know That is double standard. But That is how I feel. I guess I need to work on that.
Well really I think anyone who has had sex that many times just a big load of herpes.
I agree. If you are constantly sleeping around with different people, it doesn't look good, whether you are a man or woman. A couple experiences here are there don't hurt though. If a couple here and there mattered that much, there are some people that would never get laid! :)Quote:

I am so sick of the double standard. I just got divorced from my husband of 4 years. I got involved with a guy after we filed for divorce. Big mistake! We broke up and then I slept with one other guy pretty much just for the hell of it. We were both lonely and we decided afterwards that we didn't click so there was no need to pursue it. Now, I am being called the biggest whore of all time in the little Texas town I live in. Oh and lets not forget that the first guy I started seeing after my divorce had LYED to me about how many people he had slept with. I found out after we had broke up that he had slept with A LOT more people than I thought. I have a doctor's appointment made for Thursday even though we used protection. He lyed about other stuff so what's to say he didn't lie about that. I hate this G.D. town!! As soon as I pay off some bills, I am sooooo F**KING out of here!!
It's a double standard... but trust me guys that do it get labeled players. Smart women would avoid that type of guy.
I have wondered about that myself. Such older terms as ''bounder and a cad'' and rake carry too much of an approving ''Ha, ha, boys will be boys.'' I would really like a term that shows the contempt I have for such. Creep mostly applies to a guy too unattractive to succeed or only by using his age or position.
It's true that some women want just sex and no commitment. And some guys are the sensetive ones looking for a life long relationship.
Hello.
I agree there is a double standard and its wrong BUT lets be honest Ladies who places the Labels on the ladies. YOU DO so it is a double standard but your keeping that standard alive. Your using it to show guys that the un-sluts are better then the sluts hehehe. I don't know very many Guys that say a Lady is a slut for going out but I know a number of Ladies that do.
Think About it

reminds me of a quote - I love humankind, its just all these damn people I can't stand. =)Quote:

lets see... we've got people with soft erections, people with too many erections, women who can't orgasm, women who don't get enough sex, single guys who cheat, married guys who cheat, married guys who think they are gay, women who married guys who might be gay, women who cheat, women who are thinking about cheating with married men, women who had sex and wonder if they could get pregnant, women who are pregnant and their partners won't have sex with them, men who like porn, women who dislike porn, and something like a billion hits on a post about whether to shave/trim or not...
uh. What the hell was my point? Well, we are just one big confused mess about our sexuality.
ah, and the double standard. Yeah, guys can get labeled players but I don't think it caries the stigma. Somehow the woman is supposed to be the Moral One, the One Who Has the Self Control, since she's the one who is going to deal with the pregnancy that may or might not happen. She's the one who opened her legs, so suddenly she's the one who let it all happen. Not saying its right, but that seems to be the place it comes from.
I have always been with and attracted to women who were really aware sexually. They weren't afraid to put you to a wall and demand what they needed now. Personally, I just flat out find a woman with a primed sexual drive maddeningly attractive. That does NOT mean they were "easy". It means they knew themselves enough to know what they wanted. Sometimes it meant sex, sometimes it meant holding back. But none of the women I dated and connected with physically and mentally were ever timid or apologetic about their intimate desires.
now... does that mean I want a woman who is going to sleep around? Not if I want a monogamous relationship. Am I going to call my partner a slut because she had other partners before me? no. no more than I'm a "man-whore" for having a few partners along the way.
so... be pi$$ed a little, and then do your best to let it go. People have the right to feel what they want and some people have a problem with a woman who "sleeps around"... even if you don't really "sleep around"...
oh well.
as long as you can connect your physical actions to your mental needs, within the context of keeping a healthy life, whatever that means for you, enjoy yourself and your life.
all the other noise washes away in the end.
Believe me, I'm not afraid to call some guy a whore.
Ask my friend, Brian. ;)
All anyone can do is stand up against the double standard if you believe in it enough.

So for an entirely different point of view...
A whore is somebody who uses sex as a tool to get something else that they want. It could be money, status, drinks, cosmetic surgery, etc. A slut is somebody who is promiscuous and doesn't say no to sexual advances.
The thing is, these guys that you are so angry at aren't typically after anything else. They're just after the sex. So the word whore doesn't apply to them. These guys are are also not promiscuous. They're hunting and choose who they want to conquer. So slut doesn't really apply either. (That's not to say that men can't be sluts or whores, or women can't be the hunters. It's just typically the way I suggested.)
But calling these jerks "The Man" is a total insult to people like me, who believe real men are the ones who respect women like they respect their own mother. These "players" are bad news, and a disgrace to the Y chromosome.
