    Condenser fan replacement confusion
The condenser fan on my outside unit stopped over the weekend. I opened it up and everything looked okay. I powered it all backup and it ran for half the night.

I thought that replacing the fan motor would be the best bet. I had the capacitor tested and it passed.

The new motor has many more wire that the old motor and has a run capacitor that was not on the old motor, that I could find.

I have left the original 3 way capacitor for the compressor but I am not sure ow to connect this new capacitor. Does it need to connect to the old one somehow?

The original motor had 3 wires, black (L1), Brown (Capacitor) and red (L2). The new motor has 2 brown leads (capacitor?), purple (L2), black (L2).

After wiring it according the diagram on the side of the motor nothing starts.

    Any suggestions welcome.

The two brown leads will go to the capacitor , the black will go to the terminel "C" on the old capacitor and the purple will go to the contactor where the old wire was connected. Nothing will connect to "fan" on the old capacitor.

    Thank you for the answer...

I realize I made a typo, The purple lead is listed as L1 and the black as L2 on the new motor.

    Will this change the wiring?
