    Raise the flange??
I'm having trouble deciding if I should raise my flange or not. I have just replaced my subfloor (due to leaking toilet) and I have now installed tile raising my floor approx 3/4 of an inch. The reason the toilet leaked in the first place is because the flange was too high and someone did not properly install the toilet. Now that I have raised the floor, I was planning on raising the flange with a flange extension. I'm not sure of the proper terms, but it's basically a flat 1/4" thick piece of plastic that looks exactly the same as the top of the flange. I'm was told to put some caulking between the flange and the new extention piece and put them together lining up the holes exactly and then installing the bolts, wax ring, toilet, etc... Now, I'm not sure I need to do this because as it sits right now with the floor height increase completed, the flange is still higher than the tile I would say approx 3/16" higher. What would you recommend for me? Any advise would be appreciated.

You're suggesting adding a extension to a flange that's already almost 1/4" over the tile? Why?? The toilet has a horn the directs the discharge down into the closet bend. If this were my call I would do a dry run. Position the toilet over the flange as though you were going to set it. If it doesn't rock then place the wax ring and set the toilet for real. Good luck, Tom
