    Septic system troubleshooting
    Hey Guys,

I'd just like to start by saying that I did do a search, and didn't find anything that directly answered the question I have.

    Here goes,

My dad passed 6 months ago and I'm the "man of the house" (barely)... ha.

Anyway, we live in the country and have a septic pump that pumps into a sewer, and we have a septic field too.. (I probably explained that horribly/not at all.. just wanted you guys to know what kind of stuff we have.. if it varies at all).

Anyway, I noticed the other day that the septic pump was turning on and staying on.. It sounded kind of like it had nothing to suck up... so I turned it off. I've been relatively busy, so I haven't had much of a chance to look at it. I would turn it on like 5 times a day for a little bit just so it wouldn't wear itself out.. ( I guess?)

Anyway, I turned it on today, it turned on fine.. I go downstairs a while later (possibly an hour.. whoops) and its off.. so I was thinking that maybe it's fixed.. although now it won't turn on. It doesn't make any noise or anything when I turn it on, just nothing.

Do you guys have any ideas of what I could do to troubleshoot that, or any suggestions?

    Thanks a lot guys.

    Gavin

The first thing I would check is the breaker box to see if you have a open breaker. After you get power to the pump I would check the float switch. Let me know what you find. Good luck, Tom
