Hi, recently my cistern is filling up really slowly, it is a push button toilet and the water seems to be spraying really slowly, looks there may be a bit of a blockage somewhere but cannot see how it all works and don't want to mess in case I break something. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks :confused:

What type of ballcock do you have? A float ball on a rod or a can on a wire?

Hiya, thanks so much for the diagram, it is the second one. There is definitely not a ball floating.

You have a Fluidmaster Ballcock with a bad #242 Seal. Shut the water off to the toilet. Push down and twist the top of the ballcock and pull up. The top will pull up reveling a black washer with a small hole in the center. Over time this hole swells shut and slows the fill. Pull the washer out and replace it. Fill faster now? PS. Hiya, thanks to both of you. Sorry just one more question, I am totally not with all this plumbing stuff. I have a water cut off point under my sink in the kitchen, will this be the only point or will there be one on the toilet? Sorry to ask more

There should be a shut off valve under the toilet tank. Good luck, Tom

Hiya, thanks once again for your fast response. It the shut off valvue like a screw that you would turn with a screwdriver, sorry to sound so stupid. I think it must be this, will wait your response before I get me screwdriver in there.

The shut off valve is called a "angle stop" and looks like this, (see image).regards, Tom

Hiya, thanks for replying, the bit that sticks out would it be possible for that to be a little screw that maybe just needs to be turned slightly to stop the water? Do I turn it clockwise or anti clockwise? I am moving out and didn't want the buyer to have the problem. Thanks for your help.
