Welbutrin as a quit smoking aid?
Hi everyone! I have tried to quit smoking on and off for the last couple of years I have went cold turkey, used the patch and tried the commit lozenges. I just can't seem to kick the habit which is odd because I have kicked some pretty bad habits in my past that were much worse then smoking. So now I am thinking of asking my doctor about Welbutrin. I read that doctors can perscribe it as a quit smoking aid so I am very interested. Does anyone know about welbutrin and has anyone taken it? Would really like to know everyone's thoughts on this it would be very helpful!

Wellbutrin, better known as Zyban in the quitting smoking circles works very well for some people. You must understand, if you don't already, that this is an anti-depressant. It is used for depression as well as smoking cessation.

I have a friend that used it for a month and has been smoke free for 2 years. I on the other hand had some very terrible reactions to it, including temporary dementia.

It is not something to undertake lightly. Please discuss ALL side effects with your doctor.

I don't know about wellbutrin - but I can tell you how I kicked the habit for good cold turkey.

I started getting B12 injections twice a week after I had some research about how others were able to kick the habit with no withdrawals or no side effects. On top of that I went twice a week and got acupuncture as well. I have to say I was shocked at how well it worked. I had no symptoms and not even one single craving for a cigarette. It was awesome and since I got three other friends to quit the same way. (always have to spread the good stuff ;) )
