I haven't been paying taxes in the US or my home country (Ireland).

Now I'm worried that I'm in a lot of trouble and I don't know what to do about it. Any help much appreciated.

You have some substantial issues to deal with. The best thing would be to file amended returns and get it sorted out asap. Which state are you in? It might be easier to get professional assistance. I find it hard to believe that your company dropped the ball on this one.

You can correct this problem by having a CPA file your back returns. Just make sure that the CPA you select has substantial experience dealing with multinational tax matters. Otherwise you will get worthless "local advice" that does not take into account the laws of both juridictions that apply to you.

I am in California. I'm really concerned. I think the best thing would be to get in touch with an accountant here ASAP and see what the story is. Another problem is that I haven't been paid by my company for over 3 months, so I'm not in a great financial spot as it is - is it likely I will have to pay all the back taxes in one lump sum or could I arrange a payment plan?
