Took a hpt and it came back positive. Then I just took another one today and it came back negative I am confused. I am 7 days late. I have made a doctors appoitment but it isn't until aug. 3rd and this would be my 5th child and hpt's never have detected pregnancy early on. Always had to go get a blood test. But I want to know now.

The only truly reliable test is a blood test. I'd call your doctor ;)

Congrats! It sounds to me like you are pregnant. A positive reading is usually a definite reading. False positives are very rare.

When you go to the doctor have him confirm it, to be on the safe side.

Now did you take BOTH tests using first morning urine? If so, false positives are quite rare, but false negatives are much more common.

Did you take the second one in the afternoon? If so, it was most definitely a false negative.

To get the most accurate test result one must use first morning urine. Get that blood test done anyway. Good luck, I hope you get the result you are looking for.
