I can hear the fuel pump come on for a few secs. When the key is turned on. The car sounds like the starter is spinning a little fast, but it is turning the motor. The check light comes on for about 2 secs. When the key is on, when you check for codes the light just stays lit. map sensor is getting 4.99 volts. What's nexts? Don't have any take it to the dealership money...

. Does the Check Engine Light go out after 2 seconds, when the ignition switch is turned to ON?

. Did you test all under dash and under hood fuses with a test light or multimeter?

. Did the ECM get wet?

. Remove MAP Sensor connector and Throttle Position Sensor connector and allow to dry; then, reconnect.

. Remove distributor cap and dry. Spray WD-40 on inside of cap and wipe off excess with a paper towel.

. Carefully clean spark plug wires and spray with silicone. If the wires are old, they may be shorting out to ground.

. Reset ECM.

. Check for spark.

. If there's no spark, disconnect tachometer wire and see if the car starts--it may be shorting out the distributor. If still no spark, remove igniter and coil and have AutoZone test them for free.
