I wanted to know how can my husband adopt my 3 yr. old daughter. Since she's been born her biological father has not been seen or heard from. My husband has taken care of her since she was 6 months old.

You will hire an attorney, they will contact your ex and get him to sign over his rights with permission to adopt. Adoption papers are filed with the court and you adopt.

Normally if they know they will not have to pay child support after the adoption, they are sometimes happy to sign. And knowing if they don't, you will hound them till they are dust for child support helps also

Do you know the biological father's whereabouts? If you don't, you'll have to convince the court. That generally means posting a public notice and allowing a specified waiting period to pass. After that time, you present the judge with a petition to adopt, you, your husband and judge sign it, then it's legal and binding.
