    Refrigerator Shuts Off Spontaneously
I have a 2-3 year old GE refrigerator. It has started to shut down for no reason that I can see. The breakers aren't tripping, and the light bulb is working, but the fridge is dark when I open it and I can't hear the motor. The plug is in properly, but the refrigerator loses power.

When it happened last night, I unplugged it, plugged it back in and all was well. I went through this 3-4 times last night.

I opened the fridge about 8:30 tonight, and it had shut down. I checked the breaker box--fine. I ended up switching plugs, and all is well--so far. I switched plugs so that I don't have to keep wrestling the fridge to deal with it.

I'd appreciate any ideas someone could give me on this situation.

Before you look for ways to repair the frig lets make sure the power to this outlet and socket are not being interrupted. Plug a small lamp into the suspect outlet and leave it on 24/7 to see if it ever shuts off by itself. You could have a lose wire nut or screw connection that is arcing. Do this little test and if the light goes out come back to this site. We can help you fix the outlet if it turns out to be your problem.
