    Whirlpool Washer and Dryer
I have a Whirlpool LA7800XT washer and a LE7800XSN1 dryer. Lately, I spotted problem on each of them.

    1. There is no hot water coming off the pipe even though the tap is always on.
    2. The dryer is unable to heat up and therefore not able to dry the wet clothes.

    Any pointers/suggestions are appreciated.

    Regards,

If the dryer isn't heating up check the thermostats for conitnuity. Unplug dryer and remove one lead from each stat. If no continuity, replace the stat. As for the washer, Is there no hot water at the waer supply at the wall or no hot water entering the machine? If non entering the machine, check the water inlet valve at the back of washer. It is probably bad. Boy, when one goes down, it all goes dow. Good Luck and post back with results.

Thanks for your quick response. Yes, both goes down at the same time is no good at all.

Can you provide instructions as to how to:

    1. Check the inlet value at the back of the washer. My husband and I checked the inlet at the back but doesn't seem to spot any problem. The water supply at the wall is OK
    2. How to check if the thermostats is out and then replace it. I guess I have to order the parts from Whirlpool direct. If there is other sources available, can you provide any suggestions.

    Thanks again,
    Homemom.

These parts can be picked up at any appliance parts store. The are inexpensive. Most quick check of water valve would be to disconnect hot water hose at the machine. Is the water hot coming out of the hose? Now hook it back up and check at the inside of unit with setting on hot/warm wash. Is it hot? You can also check the valve for 110/125 volts at the hot side termanial. Also check the screens inside of valve where hose connects. Is it clean? If dirty water cannot flow through. If you have voltage there check the temperature switch. If all is good there, check the temperature switch.
To test the thermostats on dryer, disconnect unit from power. Thw remove one lead from each thermostat and check for continuity. IF None, replace with like value stat. Or you can make a jumper wire and jumper around the stst and turn unit to dry clcle and see if you have heat. Also check the element while there. For comtinuity. It could be bad as well. Post back if you need further help.

Well, my husband was able to remove the cabinet and dive into the back of the washer. However, he was unable to read the part # for the water mixer.

For the dryer, he checked both thermostats (the thermal cut-off and the Hi-limit), the heater elements, and the fuse, they all seems to be OK. We finally replace the air-duct and think that's probably the causes of the clothes not able to be dried.

    Thanks for your advices.

You do not need part # for water valve. Just the model # of unit. If much of restriction in venting clothes will not dry.

We were unable to find the right part using the model #. Are you able to provide any pointers?

We tried Appliance Parts from RepairClinic.com - HomePage and were able to locate this item.. Appliance Parts from RepairClinic.com - Product Details. But this doesn't match what we currently have installed on the washer.

Looks like in to me but your model # of your washer looks like it is missing 2 letters at the end. LA7800XT?? What do you think is different from yours compared to one in photo? Many times the aftermaket or replacement will be a little different. Just as long as they mount the same.

What brand do you have? It does agitates but not drain. I take it if it doesn't drain it won't spin as well? Could be a bad lid switch but would like you to provide more info
