    I'm very confused
    OK.
I'm young and I'm just trying to understand my stocks a little better I have had my money in stocks for over 16 years, the 1st person I had my money invested in did absolutely nothing made me like 5 dollars in the 15 years I had my money with him, and now I have my money invested with a different company. I have let my mother handle this all up until now, as of today and now I would like to know a bit more about how this all works I have all of my money invested in as my statement says under equity mutual funds...

    MAC CUNDILL VAL CL-SCS

Can any one tell me what that is?

    Thank you very much

I found a reference to a mutual fund called: Ivy Cundill Global Value Fund -could that be it? It's brand new, and so has no historical performance data.

What company is your money invested with?

An equity mutual fund is one primarily invested in company stock. Public companies sell stock as a way of generating capital. A share of stock represents a partial ownership of the company. The value of a company's shares goes up and down depending on several factors.

Mutual funds are a way for smaller investors to diversify their investments. Rather than you buying a few shares of a dozen different stocks the mutual fund pools the money of a large group of investors and purchases larger blocks of a number of different stocks.

Mutual fund managers spend all day, buying and selling stocks to make the most for the investors. The performance of a mutual fund is tied largely to the skill of its manager.

I would look more closely at what happened with your previous manager. Depending on when you divested, such a small gain might indicate fraud.
