I have developed a rash on my thigh (NOT inner). It started in 3 areas on the top of my thigh in blotchy quarter size rashes with about ten tiny red bumps. They now look like tiny blisters & the skin surrounding it has whelted/raised and is light pink in an irregular shaped circle/oval. It seems to be spreading with some acne looking spots close by.

I think I may have gotten a bacteria at a local water park. Either from the hot tub or from the slides/mats. I am uninsured & just looking for help where I can get it for now.

I noticed it a week ago today and have put cortaid on it, although it does not itch. It is sensitive to the touch & irritating! I am scared. :confused:

Have you tried an antibiotic ointment, over-the-counter type? A cortisone cream will help reduce inflammation, but if it is truly a bacterial infection, you'll need more. If you know of a good pharmacy, you might want to ask a few questions of the pharmacist (maybe even bring your photos) and let them advise you (that's one of their jobs!). I am suggesting all of this only because you say you're uninsured and don't have the $$ to see a doctor. However ,IF you have ANY systemic symptoms at all, along with this rash, I would do whatever (make payments, borrow, etc.) in order to be seen by a medical professional asap. By systemic symptoms I mean such things as lowgrade fever, nausea, dizziness, etc.

I understand that you don't have insurance. Believe me, I understand that feeling as I don't either. However, By looking at this, thank you for the pictures, it is important you get to the doctor. They almost have a ringworm look to them, but they need to be seen by a doctor.

If it is bacterial it will need an antibiotic. If it is ringworm, typical over the counter meds will not work for this as it is widespread.

Many doctors now give discounts to patients who do not have insurance and will pay in cash.

Here is my update:

Yesterday I called about 15 different numbers to try to get into a sliding scale pay doctors office, but came up empty handed. The cost I was told just to be seen was at least $125 upfront. Stressing! SO I actually did go to a couple of pharmacys and ask what they would recommend. They mentioned (gosh I can't remember the name now, but it starts with a P) an over the counter antibiotic. I had also been taking an oral antibiotic that I had previously for a couple of days. I wrapped it up so it wouldn't spread & put an ice pack over the wrap shortly. This morning my leg looked better than yesterday! I am not saying it is cured or that I am not still really concerned, BUT it is a better sign I hope-I will add a pic tomorrow when I have access to. The whelts have gone done on all except for the top one, but it is still smaller. It does itch like crazy now though.:eek:

ALL BETTER! I hope :) I just stuck to the polysporin & keeping it wrapped to contain it. Whatever it was, I hope to never get it again! I certainly do not have the desire to go swimming in a public place, that's for sure!:p
