Hi,
I'm 21yrs.. I had sex wit my boyfriend on th 28th of June. My periods were due around the 13th of July but I still haven't got it. I have been late before but its different this time. At the same time when my period was due, I started noticing a brown discharge. It was very slight. I would sometimes notice a small stain on my panties but it wasn't enough to wear a pad or a tampoon. At the same time I was experiencing severe itching in my vagina. Now both the discharge and the itching have stopped. My boyfriend did not ejaculate inside of me although we did not use any protection. But just to make sure I did a home pregnancy test a few days back but the result was negative. I am still extremelly worried though as I still haven't had my periods. Please help me... may I also add that both my boyfriend and me were virgins when we first had sex and we'v had no other sex partners except each other. Please hep me. I'm very worried...

A brown looking vaginal discharge usually indicates old blood. A woman's hormones and menstrual cycle is always changing over time. No matter how regular you have been, with hormonal changes your period can become irregular.

Now the fact that you had sex makes it a possibility that you can be pregnant. I'm not trying to scare you at all, but it is possbile. The withdrawl method only has a 15% rate of being effective (I'm assuming you used this method since you said he didn't ejaculate in you, but you used no protection). Although he may not have ejaculated in you, he is still releasing precum throughout the time you are having sex, and precum does not have as much sperm as the regular ejaculate, but it does have enough to get you pregnant.

The vaginal itching could be due to a number of things. It is a really big annoyance and can be taken care of with Vagisil.

If this is a big concern for you the best thing you can do is go to the doctor and get a pregnancy test done. If not pregnant, you can discuss with him and find a reason why you are not getting your period. If you are going to continue to have sex, I suggest getting on some sort of birth control if you don't want to be parents just yet. :)

I've done a fair bit of research into, however like any other form of birthcontrol, how you use it reflects hwo effective it is. Generally speaking, pre- has no sperm in it. Sperm comes from the testis, not the prostate. As it is processed by the body, sperm goes up the vas deferens and through the prostate. While in the prostate, various lubricants and vitamins are added to help make sperm more viable. Because of this, precum which comes solely from the prostate can only contain sperm under a few conditiosn: the man has recently ejacuated and thus there is still sperm in the urethra. If he has ejaculated but has gone to the bathroom, all those lovely swimmers get killed (urine is steril). Anyway, the reason pulling out doesn't work is cause most guys can't tell exactly when their testis will release the sperm.

And as for your question, hormone levels in your body are bound to be kind of wonky but I wouldn't stress out too much since this too causes hormones to freak out. On the other hand, home pregnancy tests aren't 100%. Only blood tests can do that. My suggestion would be take another one and go see a doctor. He/she can answer all your questions.

I am not a professional so I guess my qualifications don't say much, but J_9 is a professional, and like me, always states that there is sperm in precum, and also that the withdrawl method is not very effective.

There can be, and it is by no means a good method of birth control since we all know men are unreliable ( :-p ). Sperm can build up in the prostate but not for long. Sperm die at body temperature (that's why the testis hang down) so they can't live in the mans body for long. But again precum can contain sperm.

Of course there are lots of problems with pulling out (sti's and some other nasty things) but it is more effective than people give it credit for. I wouldn't rely on it though (hence why Im on the pill and pull out... best of both words)

Hey thanks so much all of u! I did a hpt again this morning and the result was again negative.. so again I'm in a big predicament as to what's going on in me. I'm very confused... someone told me it may be cervical cancer...

Wow that is kind of a big conclusion to jump to. See a doctor to go over other options before jumping that far :)

But what are th chances tat I may be pregnant? Considering th fact tat I did a hpt twice and both times were negative?

HPT's are not always accurate. It is still a possibility that you are pregnant. The most accurate way of detecting pregnancy is by a quantative blood test. You can ask for this at your doctor's office. :)
