Where do you give dogs there rabie shots behind the skin or in muscle?
I am not sure. My vet gives them between the shoulder blades, so I guess under the skin.
If you are asking because you want to give them the shots yourself. I would suggest taking them to your vet. What if you give it to them wrong. Hit a vein or they have a reaction. Would you know what to do to save them?
Labman, when I got Trinkett vacinated, I'm pretty sure that they gave her the rabies shot in the leg. I know that they are moving away from giving cats shots between the shoulder blades, because of vaccine-related sarcomas. If you are going to have to treat for a tumor, you can amputate a leg. Not much you can do if the tumor is between the shoulder blades.
Thanks for the answers, I did some more research and found out that it is best given above the shoulders under the skin.
